
Eric Scheumann is a Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) leader with more than 20 years of experience, primarily within the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. Originally from the Indianapolis area, he holds a bachelor’s degree from Earlham College and a Master of Public Affairs with a concentration in Environmental Management from Indiana University.
Eric began his career at the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) and Eli Lilly in Indianapolis, where he focused on environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives. Over the past decade, he has expanded his scope to include safety compliance, integrating environmental and safety disciplines into a comprehensive EHS approach.
His professional experience includes EHS leadership roles at Roche Diagnostics (Indianapolis), Honeywell Analytics (Lincolnshire, IL), and Baxter Healthcare (Round Lake, IL). Eric currently serves as Associate Director, Health, Safety, and Environment at Eli Lilly in Pleasant Prairie, where he supports site operations.
Throughout his career, Eric has demonstrated a strong track record of leading teams, delivering impactful EHS initiatives that strengthen compliance, improve safety performance, and support business objectives.
Position Statement (Reason for Interest in the Position):
I am pleased to submit my candidacy for Secretary of the ASSP Wisconsin Chapter. I bring over 20 years of experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety leadership within highly regulated manufacturing and pharmaceutical environments, where strong governance, accurate documentation, and clear communication are essential. In my current role as an Associate Director of HSE, I regularly support executive teams through disciplined recordkeeping, audit‑ready documentation, and effective stakeholder communication.
The Secretary role is critical to maintaining continuity and supporting an effective member experience. If elected, I will bring an organized, reliable, and collaborative approach to maintaining chapter records, supporting the Board, and ensuring timely, consistent communication. ASSP has played an important role in my professional growth, and I am motivated to give back by helping strengthen the operational foundation of the Wisconsin Chapter in service of its members and the safety profession.
